A woman has been jailed for attacking her lover with a hot iron and a broken bottle in a violent, pre-planned attack.

Kenya Alozie, 31, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to nine years in prison at Woolwich Crown Court after she was found guilty of GBH with intent.

Alozie attacked her victim, a man in his 30s, on May 15 as they were having sex at a house in Plumstead.

Police said she had prepared for the attack by having a hot iron and broken bottle to hand, which she used to attack him - burning his legs and genitals with the iron, and crashing the bottle into him.

The victim sustained several serious injuries including deep cuts and burns.

He has since been forced to undergo surgery.

Following the attack, Alozie, who had come to the UK to study at Coventry University and had been living in Plumstead with friends, had planned to return to her family in Nigeria, police said.

Her visa was due to expire at the end of May, and she attempted to flee the country, but was arrested on board a plane at Heathrow Airport on May 24.

She was charged with GBH with intent on May 25, and was brought to justice following a Met investigation.

But police were unable to say what had motivated Alozie to carry out the brutal attack.

Det Const Duncan Clark from Greenwich police, said: "Alozie committed a calculated and pre-planned attack.

"She ensured she had a broken bottle to hand and a hot iron to strike the victim and seriously harm him.

"The sentence imposed clearly reflects the seriousness of this extremely violent attack."
