‘I was speechless’: Chloe Madeley announces engagement to James Haskell after romantic Paris proposal

Chloe Madeley has announced her engagement to rugby player James Haskell after three-and-a-half years of dating.

The daughter of TV presenters Richard and Judy Madeley, 30, said she was left “speechless” after the sports star, 33, popped the question during a romantic trip to Paris.

Showing off her diamond ring in a photoshoot with Hello! Magazine, Madeley said that she originally thought that Haskell was “joking” as he got down on one knee last week.

She said: “He kissed me on the forehead and said, ‘You do know how much I love you, don’t you? The last three and a half years have been the best years of my life.’

“I just thought he was being romantic because we were in Paris, so I replied: "Oh babe, that’s so sweet.’”

She continued: “But then he added: "And you do know I want to marry you?" and started to get down on one knee.

“At first I thought he was joking. I was speechless and stared at him in disbelief. My first thought was: "Oh my God, he has a ring!’”

Madeley shared a photo of the couple kissing in front of the Eiffel Tower last week, promoting fans to speculate about a proposal.

She captioned the photo: “Obligatory kiss under The Eiffel Tower selfie Thank you for the most romantic 3 days of my life @jameshask I love you.”

Haskell has revealed that he had the ring designed himself as he wanted it to be “perfect” for his wife-to-be.
