Katie Price has revealed as a young mother she would have considered an abortion had she known her son would be born with disabilities.

The 37-year-old’s eldest child Harvey was born blind and suffers from autism, ADHD and Prader-Willi syndrome.

Speaking on Loose Women Price said: “I was young when I had Harvey and I admit that it if I knew he was blind before I had him, as harsh as it sounds, I probably would have aborted him. To me it was ‘he is blind how will I cope?’.”

Price – who had Harvey with Dwight Yorke – said the thought would never cross her mind if she now fell pregnant with a disabled child and revealed she would adopt a child with disabilities.

“But now if I got pregnant again and they said ‘your child is going to have disabailities’ I would definitely keep it,” she said. “I would even adopt a child with disabilities. Until you’re in that situation you don’t know.”

Price – who has five children – went on to praise those caring for disabled children.

"Anyone who’s a carer, mother, anyone dealing with disabilities, I have so much respect because I know what goes into it," she said.

Viewers were quick to tweet messages of support including Piers Morgan who praised Price: "Watching @MissKatiePrice talk about her son Harvey on @loosewomen. Very honest, very inspiring. She's a great mum."

Price also has Junior, 10, and Princess, eight, with Peter Andre and Jett, two, and Bunny, 16 months, with Kieran Hayler.
