Katy Perry beats Justin Bieber to take title of most followed on Twitter with 80 million
Katy Perry has taken the title of the most followed person on Twitter ever.
Perry, 31, has amassed a following of 80.4 million since joining the online social networking service in 2009.
The Roar singer is followed closely behind by Justin Bieber who has a 72.5 million strong following, and Taylor Swift who has 68.9 million.
Speaking recently about tweeting she said: "I would say 90 per cent of my Tweets, I've just made them up and you can tell because many of them are misspelled and full of typos.

"But the other five per cent is work related or it's just to keep people in the know about where I'm playing or if I'm doing a show and I always get really confused."
It is the second accolade the new Queen of Pop can add to her collection.
Last November she was crowned the highest earning woman in music by Forbes.
She is estimated to have earned $135m (£88m) in the past year.
It is mostly down to her Prismatic World Tour, which grossed more than $2m per city over the course of 126 shows, as well as her endorsement deals.
