Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has said Arsenal can enter Monday's crunch clash with Liverpool 'more relaxed' after alleviating some of the mounting pressure with victory over Crystal Palace last week.

The Gunners were stunned by West Ham on the opening day, losing 2-0 at home to Slaven Bilic's side, before they faced a tough assignment at Selhurst Park on the second matchday of the new Premier League season.

Olivier Giroud's first-half strike and an own goal from Damien Delaney secured victory for Arsene Wenger's team and helped provide a platform from which to kick on, while memories of a thumping 4-1 victory over Liverpool last season will further boost the hosts ahead of Monday's game.

But the Reds have spent more than £75million during the summer and Oxlade-Chamberlain is wary of the talent at Brendan Rodgers' disposal.

"Monday night against Liverpool is a big game, a massive game. They’ve got some good players," said the England international.

"I think our result last week against Crystal Palace was a big one for us after the disappointment of the first game against West Ham. Knowing we had to go to Selhurst Park – ahead of a big game against Liverpool – after having lost our first game was difficult, and winning meant it took a bit of pressure off us – which means we can go into the game against Liverpool in a slightly more relaxed mood and play our natural game a little bit more.

"It will be a tough game. Liverpool have got undoubted talent in their team as well, and they’ve got some very good players.

"I’m sure the fans will be right up for it as well – and maybe our last result against Liverpool [4-1] will maybe give us a little bit of confidence. I’m sure it will be a good game."

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was was speaking to The Gooner Fanzine, on sale before and after tonight's Arsenal v Liverpool game at The Emirates.
