Chelsea: Timo Werner to undergo RB Leipzig medical for £25m transfer as Malang Sarr nears Monaco loan

Timo Werner will soon travel to Germany to complete a permanent transfer to RB Leipzig from Chelsea.

Personal terms have been agreed between the striker and his old club in talks that followed Werner’s falling out with Thomas Tuchel over playing time and his role in the team.

On the weekend, Standard Sport reported on issues behind the scenes that led to the 26-year-old being dropped for Chelsea’s final pre-season friendlies against Udinese before he sat out the win at Everton.

Werner will undergo a medical in Leipzig this week with agreement over a fee thought to be close, worth £20million plus £5m in add-ons.

The £47.5m signing hit 23 goals in 89 appearances for Chelsea in just two seasons at the club.

Elsewhere, Malang Sarr is undergoing his medical at Monaco ahead of a loan spell in France.

The Ligue 1 club will pay £600,000 to sign the defender with a permanent transfer fee of £10m already agreed, which will be triggered if certain conditions are met during his stint. A further £3m in add-ons also feature in the deal.
