The Frank Lampard era has officially begun at Chelsea after the club legend arrived at Stamford Bridge last week and he has wasted no time in arranging his backroom staff.

Lampard has been working with his new squad over the past five days at the club's training base in Ireland ahead of a pre-season against Bohemians, which ended in a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night.

The 41-year-old replaced Maurizio Sarri, who left the Blues to return to Italy with Juventus after just one season in charge, and signed a three-year contract with the club where he scored 211 goals as a player.

Now, ahead of the new season and following the departure of star man Eden Hazard, Lampard's rebuilding job can begin - and he has started by bringing in his trusted members of staff.

Jody Morris, a former Chelsea midfielder who was part of the hugely successful Under-18s coaching setup after winning seven trophies in two years in charge, has been appointed as Lampard's assistant.

The pair worked together at Derby County as the Championship outfit finished fifth in Lampard's first season in management, qualifying for the play-offs before losing in the final to Aston Villa. The arrival of Morris has led to the departure of Gianfranco Zola after he turned down an ambassadorial role.

Eddie Newton returns to the role of assistant coach having previously worked in the position alongside Guus Hiddink and, most notably, Roberto Di Matteo during the 2011-12 season when Chelsea won the Champions League.

Joe Edwards, most recently employed as coach of Chelsea's Development squad, will also act as assistant coach to Lampard along with Chris Jones, who returns after a nine-year stint before leaving to join Derby last summer.

In the goalkeeping coach role is Hilario, the Portuguese reserve goalkeeper who hung up his boots in 2014 and returned in a coaching role two years later.
