New Tottenham signing Djed Spence has described the move as “a dream come true” and insists he is ready to work under Antonio Conte.

Spence, 21, has finally completed his £19million transfer to Spurs from Middlesbrough, signing a five-year deal until 2027, and will train with his new teammates on Tuesday.

The England Under-21 international helped Nottingham Forest to win promotion via the Championship play-offs while on loan last season and says he will aim to entertain and excite the Spurs supporters.

“To play in the Premier League and at a big club like Tottenham Hotspur is a dream come true,” Spence told the club’s official website. “I’m just thankful I’ve got here and I’ve got the opportunity to play for the club. Everyone wants to play in the Premier League, as a kid you watch it.

“It’s a big club, Champions League football and obviously you’ve got some of the big players that [already] play here so it’s a privilege to be here.

“Last year we won promotion with Nottingham Forest, it was just a great season for me, the stuff of dreams really.

“I’ll bring excitement, skill, speed, I just want to excite the fans and play well.

“I can’t wait to meet the players, obviously the staff and the manager and train with everyone and gel with the team.”

Spence came through the ranks at Fulham where he was in the same age group as Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon, with whom he could form a partnership at wing-back in north London.

Spence was released by the Cottagers as a teenager before joining ‘Boro in July 2018, and breaking into their first team 18 months later.

“I came through the ranks at Fulham [with Sessegnon], from Under-12 to -16,” he added.

“He went into the first team at a young age, and obviously his career has gone very well so far. He said just be prepared to work hard. I’m ready!

“I’m a very chilled character, very humble. Everything is about football for me, I just dedicate my whole life to it. Nothing else: just football, football, football.”
