A man was stabbed to death in the early hours of Boxing Day in south London.

Police have launched a murder investigation and appealed for help after the 64-year-old was killed in Mottingham.

He was found with critical knife injuries in Luxfield Road at about 2.15am and died shortly afterwards.

His family have been informed and a post-mortem will take place in the near future, police said.

A 52-year-old man was arrested close to the scene on suspicion of murder and is being held at a south London police station.
